Hey! If we haven’t met, I’m Steph - and I came to these mediums as a burnt-out hyperrealistic oil painter.
As in - I literally had a wrist strain from how tightly I was holding my brush!
I was riddled with perfectionism and art block - and I’m sad to say that I genuinely didn’t enjoy painting any more.
But I thought to myself:
“There must be another way…”
And as it turns out - there was.
Enter: water based mediums - specifically ink & watercolour - who turned out to be my new best friends.
In these mediums I found the ability to loosen up, to play, to stop taking it all so seriously.
I found a new style, and a way of working that I TRULY love - look forward to, and am always happy to come back to.
